Minutes
Attendees: Hester Mudde, Keisha Kirkland, Aisha Brown, Stacey Hilton
Excusals: Dan Fairburn, Jamie Buchan.
1. Mrs. Mudde – Do introductions and welcome to all new members.
2. Mrs. Mudde read the principal’s report and explained the school’s vision and mission and how the SIC goals align with the school’s vision, mission, and goals.
· This year’s focus will be on Literacy Improvement, building student capacity and building school culture.
3. Committee reports:
a. Information on what the SIC is and how it will function.
b. Discussion of goals for the 2023-2024 school year:
i. Reading/Literacy Improvement – organize various activities.
ii. Building student capacity – challenging students to read/write.
iii. Community involvement – Invite parents/community members to come in and share with students/do readings/get published authors to address students and motivate them to read.
4. Brainstorm ideas on how to implement goals – Ms. Brown and Ms. Kirkland came up with some great ideas and to reach out to the community to involve them.
5. Upcoming school events were announced.
6. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 am.
